Moving into Recession
After the end of WWI , the economy ceased to be controlled by the government. Rationed goods were being bought up by everyone and businesses were forced to raise their prices they had previously been forced to keep low during the war. Therefore, there was rapid inflation. Prices rose more than 15% in 1919. Inflation greatly increased the cost of living. There were no more orders for war materials so many workers were laid off in factories.
